TLT- Tomorrow’s Leaders Today is a non-profit organization that serves several counties in Texas and is dedicated to helping lower-income students from any age range develop the skills necessary to become strong leaders of the future. Essentially, almost anyone can participate as diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are some of TLT’s core values and they understand that many types of people are a part of our communities and deserve an equal ground of opportunities as well.
This all started when the Executive Director, Elaine Smith-Poyourow worked with another non-profit organization and engaged with a leadership class in high school. With that, she thought that creating a leadership program could help with getting involved with the community. Due to COVID, TLT had to be paused momentarily and began their remote internship programs. Since then, TLT has been able to create several other programs that help students become successfulleaders of the future.
TLT works with students in 5th grade and above to prepare them for the real world by providing experience in the fields of their choice that can then be listed on their resume, giving them an opportunity for a secure future. All of the programs TLT has to offer teach the youth to efficiently collaborate, enhancing several types of life skills such as soft skills, leadership skills, and career skills. More importantly, It is all about bringing the community together and giving the underserved population and even adults who have not graduated high school a chance to be a part of the community and learn skills necessary to advance in their future.
There are several ways people have been able to contribute to TLT’s success. You can help by donating to the cause on Tomorrow’s Leaders Today’s website. There are also several other options for helping, a few of them being able to host a supply drive through Amazon or linking your TLT account to your Kroger Plus card and Walmart Round Up, and more. With the help of the community, TLT can continue to support students who want to take these life-changing opportunities.
