Civic Engagement is people finding ways to make a positive difference in the life of the community where he works or lives. A person learns to do this by using his skills, his values, knowledge about what he wishes to improve and his motivation, also called passion. Civic Engagement also means raising the quality of life in his community, by using political and non-political resources that are available.

Both youth and adults can use activities, such as participation on public boards and committees of local nonprofits or local government as a form of civic engagement. They can find ways to bring the community together, for example, by organizing public-awareness campaigns and round-table discussions. These activities also serve as leadership skill opportunities that will help community members find other opportunities in the future.
