Conflict Resolution Techniques
These next few techniques are used in a court of law but may be implemented during any conflict in the workplace in order to find a positive resolution.
- Compromise – Depending on the situation, arriving to a compromise might be essential to finding common ground. This shows others that you are willing to find a solution rather than simply getting what you want.
- Mediation – Asking a mediator for help during an argument can help by providing a neutral and unbiased opinion. A mediator can base their opinion simply on facts without being influenced by personal feelings.
- Arbitration – Arbitration is a third party that will act as a “judge” by making the final decision over the over the disagreement to finally reach an end to the dispute.
- Litigation – Should be the final option to find a resolution to the conflict. This option requires both parties to go before a judge or a judge and jury who will listen to both sides and then make a final decision.
